This week I upgraded our Website so it will load and play music and videos on mobile devices and tablets. Long overdue! I also uploaded full screen versions of the great article written about us in Platinum Urban Magazine. It looks great. Visit their Website www.pumagazine.com and to see the full current edition visit http://issuu.com/platinumurbanmagazine. So Jazzed up and pumped about tonight's gig at the beautiful Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. Looking forward to having Chuck Smith on Bass and Patrick Carr on Keys tonight! Will be working on new tunes today and tweaking our repertoire, adjusting keys, making fixes to our charts, etc. Musical housekeeping. Also, I am excited to "pre-announce" that it looks like we will be playing at the new Dallas City Performance Hall for the Jazz Collective event on September 28th. Stay tuned for more! Finally, all indications are that we will be on "D Magazine: The Broadcast". The show is M-F 9a to 11a on KTXD. |

It's been a great couple of weeks, singing at at the Tuesday night Jazz Jam at Sandaga 813, having my family here visiting from NYC and getting to come and meet my Jazz family at Sandaga. I am also honored to have been asked to sing the National Anthems of the US, Israel and Canada at the Jewish Federation's National Leadership Conference in Dallas this Sunday. |

Another superlative evening for the Brett Laquercia Group last night at the Mansion on Turtle Creek. We were so ON!. I must have spent an hour and a half working on our set list earlier that day. It pays off. The song selection was perfect. My voice felt so good, so strong. The band was incredible. Having Brad Leali with us on Saxophone was such a wonderful experience. I look forward to welcoming his incredible presence back to the stage with us. Thank you to the audience, Mansion guests, who were so appreciative all night. Thanks to the Mansion for making such an incredible evening possible by having us there. |

New songs on our Website, a December to remember, and an upcoming show

I've let too much time go by without an entry here. I've spent this entire morning editing songs from our November 10th gig at the Mansion and uploading snippets to the Website. So far She's Not There and Stormy. December, 2012 was an incredible month, with 2 gigs at the beautiful Tower Club, one at the Mansion and one at Private Social restaurant for New Years Eve. Our next gig at the Mansion is coming up on Sat and I have lots to do...fixing songs, adjusting keys, getting new charts. Also, we had a change of personnel, and Jason Davis will be replaced by Brad Leali on Sax. From incredible to amazing. I am so grateful I get to live my dream. |
A week in a musical life

It's Friday, December 7th. Dave Brubeck died this week 1 day shy of his 92nd birthday, and I've
been obsessed with the song "Charade," Henry Mancini's composition from
the movie of the same name with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn, among
other. My daughter Lily and I got into an incredible recording of it by
Bobby Darin, last weekend. Together we learned it. It woke me up last
week one morning at 4:30 am and wouldn't stop in my head. Also
Skylark's Wildflower, beautifully done by New Birth. A tune that was a
hit when I was 5, and got buried deep in my bones. It came on my ipod
recently and was like revelation for me. I've begun working on getting
charts for both of them for my gigs next week. This past Tuesday I went to the jam at Sandaga and sang "Makin' Whoopie," Ray Charles style. It was well received, and as always, it was nice to see many of my music friends there. |

Welcome to the new Brett Laquercia Group Blog, where we will keep you up to speed on happenings, in our musical world, what we are anticipating, adding, and getting psyched about. Well, we had our HUGE return to the Bar at Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas on Saturday, November 10th, 2012, and it was truly a magical evening. I felt it was our "best gig ever." It only gets better from here. We've added so many songs in the two years we've been away from the Mansion, and I have become a much more proficient and confident in my role as a leader. And now that we are back, everything seems to be falling into place: The Mansion has rebooked us for Sat Dec 15 and Sat Dec 26th; a New Year's gig at Private Social, two private events at the beautiful Tower Club (a new location for us). We need to cut a CD soon. |
